everything changes words: markus diersbock music: james blackburn do you know what it's like to lose someone? no i don't mean death by accident or departure from a relationship i mean when their heart just grows cold the man who sits in front of me lost his wife to an incurable disease he hasn't talked since july he wonders why did she leave him here with no one to want as dear he says "oh, god!" and "help me, jesus, take this pain away!" and relieve this i walk down to the 5 & 10 and hear stories that start "remember when..." and then realize i'm old it was the saddest night of my life to wake up in the dead of night sweating from a bad dream and then finding out the dream came true the man puts his face in two wrinkled hands and starts to cry again as the man kneels on the floor he wonders what he's living for and how long and when i get older will i still remember how it felt to be younger? oh, i fear for that day and when you look into my eyes will there still be that surprise that we both felt so long ago? so long ago everything changes everything changes everything changes, but why must i? |
